Pied Red Rump Parrot - Psephotus haematonotus
Stops the deposition of melanin pigments within feathers in an irregular pattern, removes red coloration.
When perched in the treetops they emit a pleasant,
trill-like whistle, almost a song.
A disyllabic, shrill whistle with an upward inflection
repeated three of four times. Calling to one another
with an attractive "chee chillip chee chillip."
