Zebra (Spotted-sided) Finch - Taeniopygia Guttata
Distribution: Australia and Lesser Sunda Islands (Indonesia).
Adult male: warm orange or light chestnut ear-coverts, grey from chin to breast; thin black breast-band.
Adult female: lacks orange or warm brown ear-coverts, breast-brand and warm brown flank patch also missing.
The song is a frequently given variable series of nasal
call notes interspersed with chattering trills.
The contact call is a sharp 'tya', 'teea', or 'thceeat', also
more loudly by male than by female.
