Identifications:
Male: distinctive black head, yellow body and edges to wings, greenish-yellow mantle and scapulars, yellow edges and tips to tail; braight orange-yellow bill. Female: olive-grey head and upperparts, bright yellow tips to greater coverts, dull greenish edges to secondaries; tail dull olive-green, bill yellow.
Song:
the song is a soft churring ending with a soft or melodious whistles.
Call:
Generally a silent bird, but occasionally utters a wheezy 'tsip', 'twee' or 'tzit-tzit' or 'sip-sip' call.
